Kodigehalli is a village in the taluka of Nelamangala in the Bangalore Rural district of Karnataka.
Veeramahasathi(veermasthigudi)temple is located in this village. It is believed to be more than thousand years old. One of the statue it seems to be a rare one tells us a story of a hero of the village fought with a wild animal(Lutta). Two of his wives are also seen. In another stone we see a king holding a bow. The king can be identified with his crown. In another stone we see three ladies (could be pathivratheyaru) sitting and beside them on both the side carved standing snakes.
This temple was renovated without disturbing the original structure by the Ex Village panchayat chairman K N Ganganarasaiah in 2008. Mr. Ganganarasaiah used to tell us that he renovated the temple with the intention of protecting the history. He used to quote and relate the Ganga dynasty lived in Manne village which is about 4-5 Km from this place. His grandfather Boodi Byranna (Boodi ByreGowda) got the name Boodhi surname because he used to sell boodhi(ash) from his field. Mr. Ganganarasaiah beleved that His grandfathers field was once upon a time could be town or village belonging to Ganga Dynasty that must have ruined due to natural calamity. This awareness has made him to protect the history and renovated the Veeramasthi Gudi without altering much of the original structure.
Archeological department can throw some light on the history of this place or it could be useful for a research students.
