Jagatsinghpur District is a district of Orissa state. The city of Jagatsinghpur is the district headquarters. Jagatsinghpur was the worst hit district in the super cyclone in October 1999 in which more than 10,000 of people died. Jagatsinghpur District was the site of protests in June 2011 due to the construction of a steel plant by South Korea's Pohang Iron & Steel Co. Ltd.
This district was subdivided into eight tehsils namely Jagatsinghpur, Kujang, Tirtol, Balikuda, Biridi, Naugaon, Ersama, and Raghunathpur.
