Famous Births

1889 - Jawaharlal Nehru was born at Allahabad. He was a prominent freedom fighter and the first Prime Minister of India.

1891 - Birbal Sahni was born. He was a paleobotanist who studied the fossils of the Indian subcontinent. He was also a geologist who took an interest in archaeology. He founded the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany in Lucknow.

Famous Deaths

1938 - Lala Hansraj (also known as Mahatama Hansraj) died. He was an educationist and a follower of Arya Samaj movement founder, Swami Dayanand. He founded Dayanand Anglo-Vedic Schools System (DAV) in Lahore.

1977 - Abhay Charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada passed away at the age of 81 at Vrindavan. He was a Gaudiya Vaishnava teacher and the founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKON).
