1916 - Harkishan Singh Surjeet was born. He was the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) from 1992 to 2005 and was a member of the party's Political Bureau from 1964 to 2008.
1931 - Sukhdev Thapar was hanged in Lahore jail with his fellow comrades Bhagat Singh and Rajguru. He was a freedom fighter who was a member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association. He was accompanying with Bhagat Singh and Shivaram Rajguru who were involved in the assassination of Deputy Superintendent of Police J.P. Saunders.
1931 - Bhagat Singh was hanged on 23 March 1931 in Lahore jail with his fellow comrades Rajguru and Sukhdev. He was one of the most famous revolutionaries of the Indian independence movement. He is an idol for youngsters as well as the inspiration for several films.
