1564 - Rani Durgavati died at Ellichpur, Maharashtra while fighting against the Mughal army. She was the ruler of the Gond kingdom and famous for her courage and patronage of arts.
1950 - Darwan Singh Negi VC was born. He received Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry to be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He was a Naik in the 1st Battalion, 39th Garhwal Rifles, British Indian Army during the First World War.
1970 - Sawai Man Singh II (Mor Mukut Singh) died at the age of 58. He was the last ruling Maharaja of Jaipur State belonging to Kachwaha clan of Rajputs. He ruled the princely state between 1922 and 1949, when the state acceded unto the Dominion of India. Later he also served as Ambassador of India to Spain.
