1911 - Mohun Bagan was the first Indian team and the first Asian team to have defeated a foreign team when they won the 1911 IFA Shield defeating East Yorkshire Regiment 2-1 to lift the IFA SHIELD.

1904 - J. R. D. Tata (Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata) was born in Paris. He was a businessman who was Chairman of Tata Group. He was the India's first licensed pilot. He was awarded the French Legion of Honour (highest civilian award in France) and Bharat Ratna.

Famous Deaths

1996 - Aruna Asaf Ali (Aruna Ganguly) died at the age of 87. She was a freedom fighter. She received International Lenin Peace Prize, Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding, Padma Vibhushan, and Bharat Ratna.

2003 - Johnny Walker (Badruddin Jamaluddin Kazi) died in Mumbai. He was a Bollywood actor famous for his comedy roles. He acted in more than 300 films.
