1937 - Sobhan Babu (Uppu Sobhana Chalapathi Rao) was born in Chinna Nandigama, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. He is one of the top Telugu film heroes. He received Rashtrapathi Award for Best Classical Film Actor/Hero, five Nandi Awards for Best Actor, and four Filmfare Awards for Best Actor - Telugu.

1950 - Jagadguru Rambhadracharya (Giridhar Mishra) was born in Shandikhurd, Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh. He is a Hindu religious leader. He is one of the four incumbent Jagadguru Ramanandacharya, and has held this title since 1988.

1990 - Guru Mani Madhava Chakyar died at the age of 90. He was a master performance artist and Sanskrit scholar. He is regarded as the greatest Chakyar Koothu and Koodiyattam (ancient Sanskrit drama theatre tradition) artist of modern times. He received Padma Sri Award, Sangeet Natak Akademy Award and Sangeet Natak Akademy Fellowship.
