1556 - Akbar took the throne as the third great Mughal emperor after the death of his father Humayun. He was only thirteen years old at the time.

1912 - King of Britain George V gave a speech in the British Parliament about his visit to the imperial colonies and expressed his trust to India people and government he saw during his visit to India in 1911.

2011 - CBI brings fresh charges of forgery and cheating against former Telecom Minister A Raja and Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa who have been arrested in connection with 2G spectrum allocation scam case.

2012 - Blast at an Israeli embassy car in Delhi.

1483 - Mughal emperor Babur was born in Andijan as the eldest son of Omar Sheykh Mirza and Abu Sa id Mirza. Babur was a direct descendant of Timur through his father, and also a descendant of Genghis Khan through his mother.

1745 - Madhav Rao I (Thorle Madhav Rao Peshwa) was born at Savnur. He was fourth Peshwa of the Maratha Empire. Madhavrao was the son of Nanasaheb Peshwa.

1885 - Syed Zafarul Hasan was born. He was a prominent twentieth-century Muslim philosopher.
