1916 - Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Aurora was born. He was the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Eastern Command of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. He led the ground forces campaign in the Eastern front of the war, which led to an overwhelming defeat of the Pakistan Army and the creation of Bangladesh.

Famous Deaths

1974 - Ustad Amir Khan died. He was a classical vocalist. He is considered one of the most famous figure in Hindustani classical music, and the founder of the Indore Gharana.
