1963 - Popular Bollywood hero Govinda (Govind Arun Ahuja) was born. He has acted in more than 120 Hindi films. He was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Mumbai North Constituency in 2004.

1972 - Y.S. Jagan (Yeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy) was born in Pulivendula village of Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh. He is the president of YSR Congress. He is member of Parliament from Kadapa constituency. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

1989 - South Indian actress Tamannaah Bhatia was born in Mumbai. She predominantly appears in Telugu and Tamil films.

Famous Deaths

1906 - Acharya Rajendrasuri died at the age of 80. He was one of the major Svetambara Jain reformer of the 18th and 19th centuries. He wrote many books on Jainism, the most famous being the Abhidhanarajaindrakosa, which is the only available encyclopedia of Prakrit, Sanskrit, and Pali words used in Jain works.

2003 - Ganapathi Venkatrama Iyer (G. V. Iyer) died. He was a famous film director and actor. He was nicknamed Kannada Bheeshma. He was the only person who made movies in Sanskrit. He made Adi Shankaracharya which won four National Film Awards.

2004 - Autar Singh Paintal M.D., Ph.D. was died in aged 79. He was a medical scientist who has made pioneering discoveries in the area of neurosciences and respiratory sciences. He received Padma Vibhushan Award from Government of India.
