1927 - Freedom fighters Ram Prasad Bismil, Roshan Singh and Ashfaqulla Khan were executed by the British government.

1873 - Rai Bahadur Sir Upendranath Brahmachari was born. He was a scientist and a leading medical practitioner of his time.

1934 - Former President of India Pratibha Devisingh Patil was born in Nadgaon, British India. She was the 12th President of India and was the first woman to hold the office.

1961 - India annexed Daman and Diu, part of Portuguese India.

Famous Deaths

1915 - Freedom fighter Thakur Roshan Singh was executed by British at Allahabad (Malaka/Naini jail). He had participated in the Bareilly Goli Kand. Although he had not taken part in the Kakori conspiracy, but was arrested and given death sentence.

1927 - Freedom fighter Ashfaqulla Khan was died.

1927 - Ram Prasad Bismil died. He was a freedom fighter who participated in Mainpuri Conspiracy and the Kakori conspiracy against British Empire. He was a patriotic poet and wrote in Hindi and Urdu using the pen names Ram, Agyat and Bismil.

2009 - Giridharilal Kedia, a social entrepreneur was died in Cuttack aged 73. He was the Working President and Trustee of Kala Vikash Kendra, Cuttack for 12 years.
