1933 - Bapu (Sattiraju LakshmiNarayana), a noted Telugu film director was born Narsapur, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. He is a music artist, painter, illustrator, cartoonist, and designer.

1976 - Baichung Bhutia, a noted footballer was born in Tinkitam, Sikkim. Bhutia is the three-time Indian Player of the Year. He won Arjuna Award and the Padma Shri.

1950 - Sardar Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel was died in Mumbai at the age of 75. He was freedom figher and deputy prime minister of India and Minister of Home Affairs.
