1908 - Babu Jagjivan Ram (popularly known as Babuji) was born in Chandwa, Bhojpur District, Bihar. He was a freedom fighter, social reformer, and politician. He was Deputy Prime Minister of India. He also held the portfolio of Minister of Defense.

1957 - Alagappa Chettiar (Sir K V AL RM Alagappa Chettiar) died. He was a businessman and philanthropist. He received Padmabhushan award.

2007 - Leela Majumdar was died in Kolkata at the age of 99. She was a Bengali writer. She received Rabindra Puraskar.
