Famous Births

1890 - Ram Chandra Gopal "Dadasaheb" Torne was born. He was the first Indian to make an Indian-language feature film. He made his first film Shree pundalik in 1912, just about a year before Dhundiraj Govind "Dadasaheb" Phalke made his first film.

Famous Deaths

1963 - Babu Gulabrai died. He was one of the famous literary figures of modern Hindi literature.

1973 - Balraj Sahni (Yudhishthir Sahni) died at the age of 59 in Mumbai. He was a famous Bollywood actor. He was the brother of Bhisham Sahni who is a Hindi writer, playwright, and actor.

1990 - Sundaram Balachander died at the age of 63. He was a self-taught veena player and film producer, director, music director, actor, singer, playback singer and dancer. He received Padma Bhushan from Government of India.

2007 - Dhulipala Seetharama Sastry died. He was a Telugu film and Stage Actor. He was popular for playing mythological roles and particularly the role of Shakuni.
