June 21 - Vivek Shauq was born in Chandigarh. He was a noted actor, comedian, writer and singer. He had acted in Hindi and Punjabi films, television serials, theatre and television commercials.

December 21 - Popular Bollywood hero Govinda (Govind Arun Ahuja) was born. He has acted in more than 120 Hindi films. He was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Mumbai North Constituency in 2004.

Famous Deaths

December - Amar Nath Kak died. He was a famous Kashmiri lawyer and author. His most important books are Hamara Vrittanta and the Gayatri written in Hindi.

February 28 - Rajendra Prasad died. He was the first President of India. He also served as the president of the Constituent Assembly. He is the only president to have been elected twice for the office.

April 13 - Babu Gulabrai died. He was one of the famous literary figures of modern Hindi literature.

December 2 - Sabu (Sabu Dastagir) died at the age of 39 in Los Angeles, California, United States. He was a film actor of Indian origin who acted in British and American films during the 1930s and 1940s.
