December 24 - Narayan Desai was born. He is the son of Mahatma Gandhi's personal secretary and biographer Mahadev Desai. He is a writer and received Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati for the biography of his father Mahadev Desai.
December 25 - Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born in Gwalior. He was the 10th Prime Minister of India, first for 13 days in 1996, then from 1998 to 2004, and third time from 1999 to 2004. A leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he is the only Prime Minister from outside the Indian National Congress to serve a full five-year term.
