June 25 - Lord Mountbatten (Louis Francis Albert Victor Nicholas George Mountbatten) was born. He was the last Viceroy of India and the first Governor-General of the independent Union of India.
July 12 - Chhabi Biswas was born in Ahiritola, Kolkata, West Bengal. He was a famous Bengali character actor, primarily known for his performances in Tapan Sinha's Kabuliwala and Satyajit Ray's films Jalshaghar.
October 2 - Mahendra Lal Wadhwa was born. He was a freedom fighter from the town of Muzafargarh. He was awarded the Tamrapatra in 1972.
December 29 - Dinanath Mangeshkar was born in Mangeshi. He was a prominent Marathi theatre actor, Natya Sangeet musician and Hindustani classical vocalist. He is the father of famous Bollywood singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle.
Sursinhji Takthasinhji Gohil (popularly known as Kalapi) died at the age of 26. He was a famous poet of Gujarati literature. He wrote 250 poems and translated four English novels in Gujarati.
