September 24 - Victor Alexander John Hope was born in South Queensferry, Linlithgowshire, Scotland. He was the Governor-General and Viceroy of India from 1936 to 1943.
December 22 - Renowned mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, FRS was born in Erode, Madras Presidency, British India. He made great contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions. Ramanujan's birthday is celebrated every year as National Mathematics Day.
February 26 - Anandi Gopal Joshi A (Anandibai Joshi) died at the age of 21. She was one of the two first Indian women to obtain a medical degree through training in Western medicine.
