July 1 - Bidhan Chandra Roy was born. He was the second Chief Minister of West Bengal. He was a physician and a freedom fighter. He founded three cities, Durgapur, Kalyani and Bidhannagar.

July 5 - Inayat Khan was born in Vadodara, Gujarat. He was the founder of The Sufi Order in the West in 1914 (London) and teacher of Universal Sufism.

December 11 - Chinnaswami Subramania Bharati was born. He was a Tamil writer, poet, journalist, freedom fighter and social reformer. He is popularly known as Mahakavi Bharathiyar. He is a pioneer of modern Tamil poetry.
