Parsees cricket team visited England for the second time. They won eight out of 31 matches. Mehlasa Parvi took 170 wickets in that tour.

Acharya Rajendrasuri, as the leader of the Tapa Gaccha, led a movement to restore the orders of wandering monks, leading to near extinction of the Yati institution. He restored the shramana tradition by forming the Agama or Samakit Gaccha, which is now known as the Tristutik Gaccha.

March 16 - Rajshekhar Basu (pen name Parashuram) was born. He was a Bengali writer, chemist and lexicographer. He was considered the greatest Bengali humorist of the twentieth century. He received Padma Bhushan.

July 31 - Munshi Premchand was born. He was a writer famous for his modern Hindi-Urdu literature. He is one of the most famous Hindi-Urdu writers.

Famous Deaths

Ramchundra (Ramachandra Lal) died. He was a mathematician. His book Treatise on Problems of Maxima and Minima was promoted by the famous mathematician Augustus De Morgan.
