August 25 - Sree Vidyadhiraja Parama Bhattaraka Chattampi Swamikal was born at Kollur, Trivandrum. He was a Hindu sage and social reformer.
December 6 - Haraprasad Shastri (Haraprasad Bhattacharya) was born. He was an academic, Sanskrit scholar, archivist and historian of Bengali literature. He is famous for discovering the Charyapada, the earliest known examples of Bengali literature.
December 22 - Sarada Devi (Saradamani Mukhopadhyaya) was born in Jayrambati, Bengal, British India. She was the wife and spiritual counterpart of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. She was addressed as the Holy Mother by the followers of the Ramakrishna Movement.
