Veera Ballala I

Veera Ballala I was a king of the Hoysala Dynasty who ruled between 1102 A.D. and 1108 A.D. He succeeded his father Eereyanga as king of the Hoysala Empire. He subdued the Chengalvas and the Santharas. It is believed that he made some unsuccessful attempts to overthrow the overlordship of the Western Chalukyas, but was brought under control by ChalukyaVikramaditya VI. He was a Jain by faith. He was succeeded by his brother Vishnuvardhana.
