Narasimha I

Narasimha I was a Hoysala king who ruled between 1152 A.D. and 1173 A.D. He succeeded his father Vishnuvardhana. Chalukyan king Tailapa III was defeated by Kakatiya Prola in 1149 and he was taken captive and later released bringing down the stature of the Western Chalukyas. Seeing this opportunity, Narasimha defeated Tailapa and killed him, but was unable to overcome the Kalachuri feudatory Bijjala II. Narashimha was overthrown by his son Veera Ballala II.
