Bhanugupta was one of the lesser known kings of the Gupta Empire. He succeeded the Gupta throne from Vainyagupta. He may be the son of Purugupta. He became known from the Eran memorial pillar inscription dated 191 Gupta Era. This inscription mentions that Maharaja Goparaja who was a feudatory of the Gupta Emperor Bhanugupta was killed at that place in a battle with an unspecified enemy.
