Nearest town from Kanigiri is Ongole. Bus facility is avalable from most of the places of andhra and no train facility is available. Once upon a time this village was ruled by KatamRaju. This village is in a hilly area. There is a fort in the hills of this village.
There are four theaters in this village. There are many schools, juniour and degreecolleges and governement hospital and private hospitals in this village. Kanigiri is a most inportant town in Prakasham district. Kanigiri is well populated town as it is having more than thirty thousand people living among different communities. Kanigiri APSRTC bus depo is no. 1 depo in Prakasham district as it earning more than one crore rupees per annum and it is a very huge amount not only in Prakasham district, but in total Andhra Pradesh after a couple of depots.
Kanigiri is a home town for one of commedy artist in bollywood i.e., Johnny Lever. One of person from Kanigiri currently setteled in Germany and now he is a mayor for that town.
