This village is having population of several castes consisting Rajus, Balijas, Yadava (Golla), Satani and Girijans (Yanadis). The village was provided with drinking water pipeline with taps in the streets in the year 1969 itself. Sri Nandimandalam Venkata Raju was the Sarpanch of this village for a long period of 20 years. He was instrumental in developing the village.

The main occupation of the villagers is cultivation. The main crops of the village are Lemon, Chillies, Jowar, Sajja and Ragi. The village is surrounded by famous Mica Mines namely Palamanu Mica Mine, L N Mica Mine, Jogipalli Mica Mine and S V K Mica Mine. Sri Thota Siddaiah was a famous Manager of the Mica Mines in olden days. Mica Mines are the main source for the employment of the labourers of the village. Sheep rearing and goat rearing also main occupation of the villagers.
