This village is having approximatley 3000 population. This village is 13 km away from Aler ((Railway Statin) town (on Seccunderabad - Khazipet Rly line). The famous Jain temple village Kolanpak is situated between Somaram and Aler. The village is linked with Bitumen (Tar) Road leading from Aler-Kolanpak-SOMARAM-Godhumakunta-Bondugula-Parupally-Rajapet(Mandal Hqtrs).
The village is covered by huge wall on four sides with beautiful granite BURZs on each of four corners. It is said to be built to face the invaders in olden days. It has assumed Heritage status though not declared by govt. In any of the surrounding villages like Bondugula, Pochannapet etc such construction is not so intact. Any person passing through our village for first time certainly amazes to see such huge and beautiful construction.
Though it is a very small village, there are about 15-18 boys and girls either settled are
studied in USA.
