This village is 6 kms from Jammalamadugu town, which is fast becoming an industrial hub.
Establishment of multi-crore Brahamani Steel factory on the Muddanuru road, Dalmia Cement plant near Chinna Komerla and laying of new BG railway line connecting Yerraguntla to Nandyal passing through Jammalamadugu and S. Uppalapadu is set to transform these places. There is also talk about one more cement company planning to come up close to Uppalapadu. It is a matter of time before Uppalapadu would be merged with Jammalamadugu Nagara Panchayat.
