2012 - Yash Chopra (Yash Raj Chopra) died at the age of 80 in Mumbai. He was a prominent Bollywood director, script writer and film producer. He directed and produced many block buster Bollywood films. He received Padma Bhushan, Legion of Honour (highest civilian honour of France), Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and many National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards.

1931 - Shammi Kapoor (Shamsher Raj Prithviraj Kapoor) was born in Peshawar, British India. He was a prominent Bollywood hero and director. He is the younger brother of another prominent Bollywood hero Raj Kapoor.

1954 - An agreement on the de facto transfer of the French territories to India was signed in New Delhi between the two countries.
