1993 - J. R. D. Tata (Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata) died at the age of 89 in Geneva, Switzerland. He was a businessman who was Chairman of Tata Group. He was the India's first licensed pilot. He was awarded the French Legion of Honour (highest civilian award in France) and Bharat Ratna.

1908 - Nagerkoyil Sudalaimuthu Krishnan (Kalaivanar and NSK) was born Nagercoil, Travancore. He was a prominent Tamil film comedian, drama artist, playback singer and writer in the early stages of the Tamil film industry.
