Dasaratha was descended from the King Aja. King Dashratha - father of Lord Rama, Bharata , Lakshmana and Shatrugna. He is very well known for his encounter with the Asuras in the Deva-Asura Sangram (God-Demigod Fight) in which he helped Lord Indra. Dasaratha was descended by his son Lord Srirama. Between Dasaratha and Lord Srirama, his other son Bharatha ruled the kingdom for some years when Lord Srirama was in excile (Vanvas).
