  King Anena (Anaranya)

Anena (Anaranya) is the son of King Puranjaya. He became the first King after Brahma expounds the concept of Rajadharma or the law of government in which the notion of danda (punishment) becomes important. But Anena rules so unrighteously that the Gods had to slay him. After the death of Vena, the Gods behold clouds of dust from bands of men who had taken to plundering because the country is left without a King. The sages rubbed the thigh of the dead king, from it came Nishada, from whom sprang the Nishadas, distinguished by their wicked deeds. The sages then rubbed the right hand from it sprang the Prithu. Anena was descended by Prithu.
