Bipasha Basu may be new to the Bollywood game but she’s made quite an impact nonetheless. Of course, it helps that her modelling made her a household name even before her film debut, in ‘Ajnabee’.
‘Ajnabee’ may have given her success, but it seems she’s also won an enemy in superbitch Kareena Kapoor, who reportedly called Bipasha a “kala bilii”, or “black cat”, in reference to her skin tone. Kareena was apparently a bit miffed when her wardrobe consultant gave Bipasha some advice. Whatever the reason, Bipasha’s gone on record as saying she’d rather not work with Kareena again.
While Bollywood usually prefers its actresses to be fair-skinned, Bipasha’s bold enough to be dusky and proud of it. "There are a lot of dusky girls in the industry today. The fair, light-eyed beauty is the average Indian man’s fantasy, but the youngsters love the sultry, sensuous dark-eyed look. Internationally, women like Jennifer Lopez are the rage," she told G Magazine. "I have never encountered any bias due to my complexion. Rather, it has been appreciated." Good for her!
Like Hollywood’s J.Lo, sultry Bipasha’s media image is that of a raunchy babe, and she says she’s proud of her sexy tag. But she has very definite views on love.
"There are no demands made in true love. There is no place for preconditions, nor is there any room for doubt. The real love is unconditional. You simply trust the other person and believe in his or her commitment," she is quoted as saying on the ApunKaChoice.com website.
Bipasha, born May 5, 1979, was dating fellow actor Dino Morea for some time, but she and her equally sexy co-star John Abraham are making quite a pair.
